Two things you'll notice right away about our Director of Fitness, Christian Stamates, are his passion for teaching and his gift for connecting with his students – regardless of their age, athleticism, or fitness level.


In each session, Christian leverages a distinguished history of A-list accomplishments as an athletic trainer and strength coach – including four years in the NBA working with the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers, winning the 2007 AFL Championship with the San Jose SaberCats, and working with the Stanford University Women's Volleyball and Gymnastics teams. Currently, his other job is Head Athletic Trainer at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, CA. 


At Up The Middle, Christian specializes in functional training, sports performance, speed/agility/quickness, strength and conditioning, and healing/corrective exercises. 

  • In the mornings and early afternoons he works with men and women ranging from ages 27 and older who are looking for a multifaceted, innovated approach to take their fitness to the next level. 
  • During the evenings, he primarily teaches sport-specific technique, form, and mechanics to youths ranging from 10-18 that complement their competitive sports training.
